THE MEASUREMENT OF TORQUE IS CRITICAL TO THE PERFORMANCE
AND LIFE OF MECHANICAL MACHINERY.
What is the technology?
Magna-lastic is MDI's revolutionary non-contact torque sensing and control technology that employs unique
magneto-elastic principles covered by U.S. Patents. MDI's Magna-lastic torque sensing technology provides a
simple, repeatable, and reliable means of accurately measuring torque in an engineered system.
MDI has developed a method of torque sensing that sets the new standard. Using
magneto-elastic principles, it is now possible to incorporate low cost, reliable,
and accurate torque sensing and control into virtually any system or machine.
This system is thermally and mechanically stable, employs no slip rings, and
is resistant to shock and vibration.

Did you know?
Magneto-elastic principles are very basic. With a minimum of components and complexity,
there are fewer parts to wear out and less of a chance for adverse environmental
influence. The simplicity of the design makes it a rugged, cost effective torque
measurement solution. Unlike other torque measurement devices, the MDI solution
does not require frequent recalibration.
From power tools to oil rigs, MDI’s Magna-lastic technology fits numerous applications where torque control is critical.
This sensing technique
creates an easily measured magnetic field proportional to torque with a stable
zero point. From adding feature content to a kitchen appliance, to enhancing
the safety and efficiency of aircraft and automobiles, MDI's Magna-lastic technology
can make a difference.
